Moqam-E-Ibrahim – A Place Where Prophet Ibraheem (R.A) Stand

Kaaba is a sacred place for all Muslims. Pilgrims from all over the world come here to perform the Hajj and Umrah. The territory of the mosque includes several historical sites, and one of them is Moqam-e-Ibrahim.

You probably think that what is Moqam-e-Ibrahim? It is the blessed stone on which the prophet Ibrahim (R.A) stood during the construction of the Kaaba. As the walls were erected, this stone rose higher. God made this stone soft; as a result, the footprints of prophet Ibrahim (R.A) were preserved on it.

In the Quran, Allah stated that “We have made the House (Kaaba) a refuge for people and a safe place. Make the place of İbrahim that is considered as the place of prayer. We have commanded Ibrahim and Ismail to clean My House (Kaaba) for going around, staying, bowing and falling prostrate” (Sura“ Bakara,” ayat 125).

Exact Place Was Removed After A Few Years:

At the time of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), the blessed stone was removed from their exact place. Currently, Ibrahim’s maqam is located 10 meters from the Holy Kaaba inside a small glass pillar. During the Hajj, pilgrims perform a prayer for him, as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) provide guidelines.

According to historians, the first ruler who made a similar proposal was the Abbasid Caliph al-Mahdi. A famous researcher of holy mosques in Saudi Arabia, notes, Ibrahim’s maqam has been partially damaged, as many pilgrims touched it with their hands. In this regard, it was proposed to protect the sacred stone and install it inside the glass pillar.

During the construction of the Kaaba, Ibrahim (R.A) stood on the stone. When the wall rose, and the stone rose, i.e., The Highest subdued Ibrahim (peace be upon him) this stone. This maqam is one of the miracles of the prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). God made the rock soft for him. Until now, traces of both legs of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) are visible on it.

Moqam-e-Ibrahim is a place that comes to the complex state of al-Haram mosque, on which prophet Ibrahim (R.A) stand during the construction of the Kaaba. Currently, Moqam-e-Ibrahim buried under the small building that comes with a dome.

Final Verdict:

During the visit of King Faisal-Ibn-Abdulaziz, the maqam was placed inside a crystal pillar with a silver lid. Later the cornerstone was redone. Today moqam is fenced with heat-resistant glass, which is covered with copper and gold.
